Frequently Asked Questions
Your Questions answered ....
I am often asked questions concerning the process for restoring my client’s photos. I have therefore added a small section at the base of each services page to explain the process. Sometimes people may have different questions to those not covered in that section, so here are the answers to some of those questions more often asked.
Can you restore severely damaged photos?
Yes. Even heavily torn, faded, stained or water damaged photos can often be restored. I use advanced photo restoration techniques to rebuild missing areas, correct fading and recover detail while keeping the original character intact.
Can you colourise black and white photos or correct discolouration?
Yes. I offer historically informed colourisation and professional colour correction services that add depth and realism while respecting the original image. You can choose subtle tones or full colour reconstruction.

Do you restore negatives and slides?
Yes. I work with 35mm, 120, 126, 127, Instamatic and large format film, as well as all slide formats. Each image is scanned at high resolution and can be fully restored or colour corrected if needed.
Do you restore documents, certificates or letters?
Yes. I can digitise and restore fragile or damaged documents, including certificates, handwritten letters and historical papers. This service is ideal for preserving family history and archival material.
Can you restore photos that are stuck to glass?
Yes. This is a common issue with older frames. I can safely digitise the image and restore it digitally without risking further damage to the original photo.
Can you enlarge old photos?
Yes. Once restored or digitised, your image can be enlarged and printed at high quality. I will advise you on the maximum size that will maintain clarity and detail.
Do you offer printing and custom framing?
Yes. I provide premium printing and bespoke framing with a range of mouldings, mat boards and mounting options. Each frame is designed to complement your restored photo and support long term display.
If I am interstate or overseas, how do I send you my photos?
Many clients scan or rephotograph their photos using a smartphone and send them digitally. My website includes a guide to help you get the best result. Completed restorations are emailed as high resolution digital files ready for printing.
Can I drop my photos to you in person?
Yes. You are welcome to drop them off in person or post them to my address. I will guide you through safe packing methods to protect your photos during transit.
How long does restoration take?
Most restorations are completed within a few days, depending on the complexity of the work. Urgent jobs can often be prioritised if you have a specific timeframe.
Will my original photo be altered?
No. All restoration is done digitally. Your original photo remains untouched and is returned to you in the same condition it arrived.

Ready to Go?
When you’re happy with the price, I’ll begin the restoration. You’ll receive a rough proof by email, along with a 14‑day invoice. From there, you can review the proof and request any adjustments you’d like.
Take your time to review the proof. If you’d like any changes, just let me know. I’m here to ensure you’re genuinely thrilled with the result. Once you’ve approved the final image, I’ll proceed with printing any copies you’ve ordered.
Payment is easy
If you’re in Australia, you can pay by EFT or cash (if you’re dropping by).
For clients outside Australia — or anyone who prefers to pay by card — secure payment is available in over 100 currencies through Stripe. Just ask for a Stripe invoice with a simple payment link. Please note that Stripe payments attract a 3% surcharge.
Final Delivery
Finally, once payment’s sorted, I’ll email your beautifully restored, high-resolution image.
If you’ve ordered prints, you’re welcome to collect them in person, or I can mail them to you for convenience.
